Guitar Instructor & Modern Band Director

Job Summary

The Ensemble Director at BOCO leads student bands and group classes, fostering collaboration, creativity, and performance skills in a supportive environment. Responsibilities include selecting appropriate repertoire, arranging music for diverse skill levels, directing rehearsals, and preparing students for live performances. The ideal candidate is an experienced musician and educator with strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills, passionate about inspiring students to grow musically and work as a team.


In addition to group leadership, the Ensemble Director may also teach one-on-one private lessons in their primary instrument or area of expertise. Updating parents on students progress & giving them clear expectations. This includes developing individualized lesson plans, tracking student progress, and helping students set and achieve personal musical goals.


Responsibilities/Requirements

* Music Degree preferred, but not necessary if you have music education background and experience.

* Ability to read music and teach others to read music

* Create fun, engaging atmosphere for students to thrive in

* Engage with parents about their child's productivity

* Recital set up; attendance, & clean up required one weekend per semester

* Recital student/teacher performance assistance on stage as needed

* Multi-instrumentalists and multi-discipline artists are very welcome


Job Types: Part-time, Contract

Pay: $25.00 - $50.00 per hour


Qualifications & Requirements:


Educational Background:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Music Education, Early Childhood Education, or a related field is preferred.
  • Extensive performance background also welcomed & encouraged

Teaching Experience:

  • At least 1-2 years of experience teaching music to young children (ages 0-5).
  • Familiarity with group instruction and hands-on, play-based learning methods.

Musical Proficiency:

  • Ability to play at least one instrument proficiently (piano or guitar preferred).
  • Strong vocal skills with the ability to lead sing-alongs and model pitch for students preferred, but not required.

Interpersonal Skills:

  • Energetic & productive teachers that provide an excellent class culture are encouraged to apply.
  • Excellent communication skills to engage with both students and their families.

Creativity and Engagement:

  • Ability to create engaging lesson plans incorporating movement, rhythm, and musical games.
  • Adaptability to meet the developmental needs of children at different stages.

Technical Skills:

  • Familiarity with tools for facilitating music instruction, such as rhythm instruments, keyboards, or music apps.
  • Basic knowledge of classroom management techniques for young children.

Availability:

  • Must be available to work during BOCO’s scheduled classes, including  weekday afternoons and MUST have weekend availability.

Muzikgarten Teacher

Job Summary


We're seeking a new early childhood educator for a Muzikgarten class here at BOCO. Muzikgarten certified candidates & teachers that can join our staff for after school lessons will be strongly prioritized.
