BOCO Stage Co™ Musical Theatre Instructor

Location: BOCO Music Conservatory – Dallas, TX (North Oak Cliff)
Position Type: Part-Time


About BOCO

BOCO Music Conservatory is one of North Oak Cliff's fastest-growing performing arts schools, offering music instruction, modern band, early childhood music, and musical theatre programs. Through BOCO Stage Co™, we're inspiring the next generation of performers by creating a fun, supportive, and high-quality theatrical experience.


Position Overview

BOCO is seeking an energetic and passionate Musical Theatre Instructor to lead our BOCO Stage Co™ classes. The ideal candidate enjoys working with children and teens, can teach acting, singing, and basic choreography, and is excited to help students build confidence while preparing for semester showcases.


Class Schedule

  • Mondays: Ages 5–7 (1-hour class)
  • Tuesdays: Ages 5–12 1-hour class offsite)
  • Tuesdays: Ages 7–12 (1.5-hour class)
  • Wednesdays: Ages 13–17 (2-hour class)


Additional rehearsals or performances may be scheduled throughout each semester

Responsibilities

  • Teach engaging musical theatre classes for assigned age groups
  • Develop lesson plans that incorporate acting, singing, movement, and ensemble performance
  • Direct students toward an end-of-semester showcase
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and encouraging classroom environment
  • Communicate professionally with BOCO staff and families
  • Assist with showcases, auditions, and special events as needed


Qualifications

  • Experience in musical theatre, acting, vocal performance, or theatre education
  • Comfortable teaching children and teens of varying experience levels
  • Strong communication and classroom management skills
  • Reliable, enthusiastic, and team-oriented
  • Ability to accompany on piano is a plus, but not required


Bonus Opportunities

Applicants who are also qualified to teach private voice, piano, acting, or other music lessons are highly encouraged to apply. Additional teaching opportunities may be available based on experience and availability.


Availability

Candidates should be available after school and early evenings, with availability on Mondays, Tuesdays, and/or Wednesdays preferred.

Guitar Instructor & Modern Band Director

Job Summary

The Ensemble Director at BOCO leads student bands and group classes, fostering collaboration, creativity, and performance skills in a supportive environment. Responsibilities include selecting appropriate repertoire, arranging music for diverse skill levels, directing rehearsals, and preparing students for live performances. The ideal candidate is an experienced musician and educator with strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills, passionate about inspiring students to grow musically and work as a team.


In addition to group leadership, the Ensemble Director may also teach one-on-one private lessons in their primary instrument or area of expertise. Updating parents on students progress & giving them clear expectations. This includes developing individualized lesson plans, tracking student progress, and helping students set and achieve personal musical goals.


Responsibilities/Requirements

* Music Degree preferred, but not necessary if you have music education background and experience.

* Ability to read music and teach others to read music

* Create fun, engaging atmosphere for students to thrive in

* Engage with parents about their child's productivity

* Recital set up; attendance, & clean up required one weekend per semester

* Recital student/teacher performance assistance on stage as needed

* Multi-instrumentalists and multi-discipline artists are very welcome


Job Types: Part-time, Contract

Pay: $25.00 - $50.00 per hour


Qualifications & Requirements:


Educational Background:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Music Education, Early Childhood Education, or a related field is preferred.
  • Extensive performance background also welcomed & encouraged

Teaching Experience:

  • At least 1-2 years of experience teaching music to young children (ages 0-5).
  • Familiarity with group instruction and hands-on, play-based learning methods.

Musical Proficiency:

  • Ability to play at least one instrument proficiently (piano or guitar preferred).
  • Strong vocal skills with the ability to lead sing-alongs and model pitch for students preferred, but not required.

Interpersonal Skills:

  • Energetic & productive teachers that provide an excellent class culture are encouraged to apply.
  • Excellent communication skills to engage with both students and their families.

Creativity and Engagement:

  • Ability to create engaging lesson plans incorporating movement, rhythm, and musical games.
  • Adaptability to meet the developmental needs of children at different stages.

Technical Skills:

  • Familiarity with tools for facilitating music instruction, such as rhythm instruments, keyboards, or music apps.
  • Basic knowledge of classroom management techniques for young children.

Availability:

  • Must be available to work during BOCO’s scheduled classes, including  weekday afternoons and MUST have weekend availability.

Camp Counselors Needed for Summer 2026

BOCO Summer Camp Counselors (College-Age) 🎸🎨

BOCO is looking for fun, creative, and energetic college-age students to join our team as Summer Camp Counselors! If you love music, arts & crafts, and spending your days making kids smile, this might be your dream summer job.


As a BOCO Camp Counselor, you’ll help bring our camps to life—whether that’s jamming out in a group music session, getting messy with art projects, leading games, or hyping up campers for performances and activities. No two days are the same, and that’s exactly how we like it.

You’ll work alongside our instructors to support daily activities, help keep campers engaged, and create a positive, inclusive environment where kids feel confident to try new things. From setup to cleanup, snack time to showcase time, you’ll be an essential part of making camp run smoothly.


What You’ll Do:

  • Assist with music, arts & crafts, and group activities
  • Help supervise campers and ensure a safe, supportive environment
  • Encourage participation and bring great energy every day
  • Support instructors with lessons and transitions between activities
  • Help with daily setup, cleanup, and organization

What We’re Looking For:


  • College-age students who are responsible, upbeat, and team-oriented
  • A love for music, arts, or working with kids (all three is a bonus!)

Muzikgarten Teacher

Job Summary


We're seeking a new early childhood educator for a Muzikgarten class here at BOCO. Muzikgarten certified candidates & teachers that can join our staff for after school lessons will be strongly prioritized. *Proper Muzikgarten Certification (will train right candidate)

* Ability to read music and teach others to read music
